Why are you passionate about aviation?

From a very young age I dreamt of what it would be like to actually be in the sky, and to be able to fly a plane. This passion grew from seeing my dad always working with planes as an aircraft mechanic. He would come home and show me photos of what he was working on in specific airline planes. I was so fascinated by both the aerodynamic and mechanical side of it. However, I was more intrigued by the idea of being able to fly the plane to travel. I saw how pilots were able to see so much of the world that I had only dreamed of. One of the main things my mom and dad tried to give us was the fortune of traveling throughout the states and Mexico. This then allowed me to set my mind to the goal of becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot, as well as the joy of simply being in the air, and having the ability to fly wherever I dream of.

What is your future aspiration?

My future aspiration is to graduate from TAMU-SA with my Bachelors in Computer Science. Along the time I continue my university journey, I want to continue to attain more certifications and build up on my hours, to get more experience in the aviation field. While I aspire to start a career as a Front End Engineer, after graduating. My long term career goal is to become a Professional Commercial Pilot working for an Airline.

Throughout my journey I hope to inspire young girls throughout my community and culture about the wonders and excitement of Aviation, as well as all the possibilities of dreaming big.

Why did you choose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT?

I chose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT because it seemed like a great opportunity to become more involved with the aviation industry, and also to attain my Private’s Pilot Certificate. However, the important push that led me to apply was because one of my mentors from the Lemonade Circle and college professor, Mrs. Brandi, referred me to the program. I had always thought I’d have to wait to start this aviation journey until she told me about Tuskegee NEXT. I knew that if I applied I would at least be trying to get closer to reaching my goals, and it would be the perfect chance to start my dream.

I also decided to apply upon learning about the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. They are truly an inspiration and greatly demonstrate that if you truly want something you can achieve it by believing in oneself. Their legacy of being able to withstand all the obstacles put ahead of them, and being the first to accomplish it, sparked something in me. Being a first-gen, and being the first in my family to pursue aviation, this has truly been surreal and a blessing to be allowed to follow in their footsteps, continue to do great things and follow my dreams.
