Why are you passionate about aviation?
Flying makes me feels truly free. It brings me joy; a joy that surpasses the enjoyment I get from my hobbies. I am also amazed and passionate about the opportunities to make the industry more inclusive. The aviation industry currently is not that diverse. Minorities make up a small percentage of the industry. I am excited about adding to the diversity and being a part of making this almost negative aspect of the industry positive. It is truly amazing to have the opportunity to make it more inclusive and diverse.
What is your future aspiration?
My future aspiration is to fly Cessna Caravans from island to island. I would love to be the chief pilot at a private charter company that allows me to do so.
Why did you choose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT?
I chose to apply because I was referred by two FedEx captains, Norman Seawright and Ray Robinson. There is no other opportunity like this one. Tuskegee NEXT has given me so much confidence in this aviation workforce, industry, and in myself. Pursuing goals in aviation is hard. It requires a lot of money, and I did not have that much support. Seeing this program emphasizing helping us through our journey and goals is amazing. Also, the support we receive through challenges outside our career, such as our diversity challenge, gender role challenges in the industry makes me feel so welcome. I feel at home.
